Surgical management of mandibular and maxillary central giant cell granuloma

Abstract Background Central giant cell granuloma is a benign intraosseous lesion of bone. It frequently affects the head and neck region, particularly maxillary mandibular bones. Despite availability various nonsurgical treatment options, surgery still most effective option for granulomas that do not respond to medical treatment, cause significant bone deformities, or result in extensive bleeding. In this article, we aimed show importance certain patients by sharing our experience with five who were operated on clinic. Case presentation case series, attended clinic central disease underwent surgical treatments retrospectively evaluated utilizing hospital database records. Demographic information, symptoms at admission, results CT MRI imaging, pathologic results, previous treatments, therapy performed all considered. Surgical procedures patients; marginal mandibulectomy two, segmental one, partial maxillectomy other two. The granulation tissues cavity removed using curettage diamond burr. Primary suture, secondary healing, palatal obturator repair, free fibula flap reconstruction techniques performed. Conclusions objective remove mass appropriate repair it properly least amount morbidity risk recurrence possible.
